Masterclass - Pedagogical approaches to learning
This masterclass will explore a range of theorists and their beliefs and how these underpin much of our everyday early years practice and provision. In our city we have settings using key pedagogical approaches linked to High/Scope and Montessori. We will learn about these and the influence and impact these ideas have on learning for our young children. Come to this masterclass and be prepared to explore, debate, question and challenge your own pedagogical ideas and come away with a renewed passion for the early years!

Spotlight on Good Practice - Autumn 2019
The host childcare business will have achieved a good or outstanding overall judgement at their most recent Ofsted inspection and will share their experience with attendees. A new training focus will be identified every term and delivered by an early years quality and sufficiency officer. The training input will highlight an element of good practice identified by the Ofsted inspector during the provider's most recent inspection. After the training workshop, attendees will have the unique opportunity to tour the environment and speak with leaders and practitioners to share good practice and network.

Readers in Reception - phonics, comprehension and the love of reading - are they all compatible?
The new Ofsted framework places a high focus on reading with phonics being the route to becoming a successful reader. Undoubtedly, phonics is a crucial aspect of the Year R daily routine, but how can we simultaneously foster within children and parents, a love for reading.
