There are currently 109 languages represented in Portsmouth schools and settings.

Do you have children who are learning English as an additional language in your setting?

Are you confident in supporting new arrivals to your setting, embracing their own language skills and enabling them to acquire English skills?

Description

This workshop, run in partnership with EMAS, will delve into the world of children who are learning English as an additional language (EAL).

Outcomes

By the end of this workshop you will:

  • Understand how children acquire additional languages
  • Be confident to support a new entrant to your setting
  • Understand how to assess the learning and development of children who are learning English as an additional language
