Let's get chattering and nattering and ask the questions: How do we close the word gap that has been so widely publicised? How do we get children talking and developing their speech so that they can be confident and competent communicators? How do we engage parents in thinking about the home learning environment and the positive impact it can have on communication and language skills development?
This workshop will explore these themes with an in depth look at how our provision within the EYFS enables and empowers children to talk and have something to talk about.
We will discuss what progression within communication and language development looks like and consider how to boost talk in the setting and home learning environment through a range of experiences.
By the end of this workshop you will:
- Understand how to develop children's speaking skills through your interactions
- Be able to develop your environment and the home learning environment so that it is language rich
- Go home with ideas to get your children chatting everywhere!
